This is a course we’ve developed for “fittings” type of turning. We’ve done it for people wanting to learn how to make pens but also as a birthday party event, making a pen and a bottle stopper and having some fun in the process – we’re adaptable.
SPECIALIST COUSE – PEN TURNING
How’s it work?
Either a full one-day course or two half day sessions.
Cost is £30 per half-day including all tools and materials.
Maximum of 6 people per course (with 2 instructors).
Divided into a morning and afternoon session (same day)
Will normally run on a Saturday, 10 to 4 with lunchbreak
Bring your own lunch, or the Allotment Cafe is just next door.
Course Schedule:
- Lathe safety.
- First session, a simple pen: Blank preparation; turning to shape; finishing; assembly
- Second session, same sequence as first but with a more complex material (either wood or acrylic), or a more complex pen type, or both, or something else (by prior arrangement).
